The calculator below will help you determine the heating time in your electric HLT or brew kettle using Brewmation's ultra-low watt density heating elements. In the kettle, the heating will start once the elements are submerged and the float switch is engaged. The estimates below assume 100% power to the elements to heat as quickly as possible.

The calculator below will help you determine the power setting, as a percentage from 0-100%, required during the boil to achieve your target evaporation rate. A typical evaporation rate is 6-8% for a 60 minute boil, but you can adjust based on your process.

Enter the total power (in kW) of the elements in the kettle, your post-boil batch size (BBLs), your target evaporation rate, and the total boil time. The gauge will indicate the power setting required to achieve your boil-off. If the setting exceeds 100%, adjust your target evaporation rate, boil time, or batch size as needed.

Part A of the calculator below will determine the amount of concentrated sanitizer that is required to achieve the concentration specified by the manufacturer your sanitizer. The sanitizer will be diluted as it is injected into the water during the sanitizer cycle to achieved the concentration set in Step 1.

Part B will calculate the total volume of mixed sanitizer solution that will be needed for your cleaning session, based on the number of kegs, pump flow rates, and Full and Low Speed times that you have configurated in your Gladiator settings.

All fields must be completed to provide accurate volumes. See the Water Calculation and Sanitizer Collection processes (below) for further instructions.

On the System Menu screen is the Calculate Water Flow button. When engaged, it will run the water into the keg washer for 30 seconds for you to collect the volume to calculate the proper sanitizer ratio. This can be done by installing a hose on the drain line, with a keg connected to one of the Sankey couplers. The valves on the coupler attached to the keg need to be open and the unused coupler should have its valves closed. When you press the Calculate Water button, it will flow through the keg and out the drain line. This should be collected into a bucket or other vessel that will make it easy for you to measure total volume. When the run time ends, it will also purge out the water from the system to ensure all is collected for accurate volume. This comes out with force and can get messy, covering the bucket with a piece of cardboard that you hold down will prevent it from spraying everywhere.

Another option is to collect the water volume off one of the Sankey couplers into a bucket. Close the valves on the unused Sankey and then open the valves on the Sankey on the one you are using. When you press the Calculate Water button, it will pass the water out through the Sankey from the OUT (this is the direct port through the middle of the Sankey and is the reverse of normal Sankey function). Direct this stream into a bucket and pay attention as the cycle gets close to finishing. When it goes to purge the water out of the system with air, you can control the flow and spray and closing down the quarter turn to regulate flow and control the force of the water/air coming out. This process is a lot easier to managed the purge pressure and is the recommended practice. Run this test at least twice, more if you see too much variance in order to average.

On the System Menu screen is the Calculate Sanitizer button. When engaged, it will run the sanitizer peristaltic pump for 30 seconds for you to collect the volume to calculate the proper sanitizer ratio. You will need to setup a buck with enough water (only water for this test) for the inlet tube of the sanitizer to sit in and be fully submerged during the tests. Once the bucket of water is in place, you will need to remove the tri-clamp for the sanitizer input into the manifold. This is the connection with the check valve from the peristaltic pump. Always open the valve on the end of the manifold to relieve any pressure in the manifold before removing any connection on the manifold. When the fitting is removed, place it into a container (like a measuring cut) and run the prime sanitizer from the Operation screen until the water starts to come out. Shut it off and then go to the System Menu screen to run the Calculate Sanitizer. You will want to empty out the water from the prime to ensure accurate readings. Press the Calculate Sanitizer button and let it run until it stops. This is the volume to record. This test should get taken at least twice, more if you see too much variance in order to average. Be sure to reconnect the sanitizer to the manifold and the valve at the end of the manifold is closed before the keg washer is run.
